- Time: 7:00pm - 8:30pm
- Where: JumpStart Systems Inc.

-
- Come out and join us to learn about Objectivity/DB.
- This is a high-performance client/server OBJECT database
- management system. It provides full database management
- capabilities for applications that require flexible
- information modeling, involve complex relationships, and
- demand high performance.
-
- Customers such as Bellcore, Motorola, Citibank, Fisher-Rosemount,
- Boeing, Digital Equipment Corp, Exxon and many other leading companies
- have selected Objectivity for distributed mission critical
- applications.
-
- ObjectivityÆs database engine has been in use for over 5 years. With
- over 100,000 deployed licenses, there are more users of Objectivity/DB
- than any other object database. Their architecture was designed from
- the ground up to be highly scalable and distributed.
-
- Topics for the evening will include an update of where we are with
- the OODB SIG followed by a presentation from Dann Treachler from
- Objectivity. Dann developed the Smalltalk interface for Objectivity/DB
- and is now marketing it. He will discuss:
- ╖ When to choose an object database using Smalltalk
- ╖ What class of problems does an ODBMS using Smalltalk solve better
- than an RDBMS? ╖ What tools are available?
- ╖ A discussion of Objectivity production applications
-
- Come with questions and ideas of topics you would like to see in
- future OODB SIG meetings.
-
- Look forward to seeing you there!
